Mary Eleanor Trombley
Marie Kuchenmeister - I am nominating my mom Mary Eleanor Trombley for the World’s Freshest fan. She has been an Olga’s lover since the late 70’s when she worked at Jacobsens in Birmingham. I have been dragged (as a child. No complains from me now) to every location in the Metro Detroit area, including remembering each location in Lakeside Mall with clarity. I think we were at the one with stucco walls A LOT. A few years back, she met the real Olga and got a picture. It is practically the highlight of her life. She has the same thing every time, Three Cheese, extra onions, small salad, extra feta, ice tea. Then she steals my fries and/or snackers. Now that I have kids, we get to have three generations of happy Olga lovers (and all my kids order the three cheese, too). Recently she returned from an extended trip around the country and she almost hijacked to car to get me to go to Olga’s FIRST! befor home. She couldn’t wait.

Julie Esris
Julie Esris - I’m the World’s Freshest Fan! I live on the East Coast. I grew up in Pennsylvania (I now live in NYC) and there used to be two Olga’s, but then they shut down. No matter how much time passed, I never forgot the taste of the bread. In 2000, it had been 7-8 years since I’d eaten at an Olga’s, but then I worked at a camp in Michigan. I was so glad to discover that there were Olga’s all over Michigan. Every summer at camp when I had time off, I would spend a day in Grand Rapids and get Olga’s. And I would order 20 pieces of bread for takeout. Still not convincing? When I visited some friend in Los Angeles and there used to be in Olga’s in the area, I made my friends take me out there (it was over an hour away from where they lived) for lunch. And I of course ordered 20 pieces of bread for takeout. And when they visited me in NYC, I made them bring me some Olga’s bread. I reimbursed them for the bread and the gas that they had to use to get there and back. – Thursday June 2, 2011 posted pic also!!!

KitaKeat – I LOVE YOU OLGAS

I have been going to Olgas as lone as I can remember. I have moved to northern michigan and there are none around me which saddens me. Everytime I go visit family though Olgas is my first stop as soon as I get off the highway.
- karalee - June 6, 2011 at 3:54 pmI’m nominating my mom for the World’s Biggest Olga fan. She and her husband visit the Laurel Park Olga’s in Livonia each week and love to have us join them! When the apple and pecan salad came out she ate it daily for awhile and loved to tell us how great it was - I always appreciated it when she picked up an extra and shared the wealth! My mom is also great at bringing the whole extended family with her to Olga’s - kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, we all join in! She likes her soup to be hot and thick and we’ve heard alot about Olga’s Peasant Soup and how perfect it is. To be perfect in my mom’s eyes is quite a reach and Olga’s meets that bar! My parents are elderly and don’t get out as much anymore, but a meal at Olga’s will always get them going!
